FAQ's1. How many make the team?
The number of dancers on each line varies. It will depend on the "natural break" in scores determined by a set of blind judges on the day of tryouts. Most lines range from 16-30 dancers. If enough dancers audition, a JV line may be established that year. 2. What if I don't have any dance experience? That's not a problem! You can attend free prep classes in the early spring to prepare. Or, YouTube is your friend! Search skills needed to make a drill team, and "dance/drill team tryouts," and soak it all in! 3. Can I be on drill team and participate in another sport or activity? Yes and no. You can do anything and be on drill team. However, you will eventually have to make a choice. It is very difficult to juggle both drill team and another extracurricular. One or the other will not receive your best. So choose wisely. 4. How much does it cost? Cost each year ranges from $850-1050 for new members, and much less for returners. Once you make the team, prepare to put down a large deposit ($350) for your gear. Start saving up now! 5. What if I don't make it? If you don't make the team, you can sign-up to take dance class at Timberview, or enroll at a studio. Continue to refine your skills, and audition again next year. 6. What is it like on drill team? How is it different from cheer? Drill team is based on precision dance, which means all dancers look uniform-- like one person. Much like cheer, we focus on discipline, technique, and character building. However, we perform different genres ranging from field, to jazz, hip hop, tap, lyrical ,contemporary, etc. We do not focus on acro or tumbling. 7. When is the Celebs' off season? We have no off season! Celebs are in season year-round. We start in the summer (usually June) with camps, take a brief break in July, and then come back in August for Football season. After that, we gear up for Howlin' Holidays, Basketball and Contest season. We finish off with Spring Show and Banquet. Then it starts all over again with Tryouts! 8. How often do the Celebs perform? Depending on which season we're in, the Celebs perform at least once per week. 9. What advice can you give a Celeb Hopeful? Practice NOW, reap the reward later. That means, start stretching now, start working on your technique and diet/stamina now, start working on keeping your grades up now, start saying your "yes ma'ams now, and start learning the value of discipline NOW. Some skills to practice include:
